POSITION SUMMARY

As VP, Associate Chief Medical Officer , you will work closely with executive leadership, hospital administrators, and medical staff to drive a culture of safety, transparency, and excellence in care delivery. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer – Hospitals, you will serve as a key clinical leader advancing systemwide goals related to quality, performance improvement, clinician engagement, care transitions, health equity , and more. You will also maintain approximately 30% clinical practice within your specialty, ensuring ongoing engagement and credibility with physician colleagues and clinical teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Quality & Patient Safety Actively round at all SRHS acute care hospitals to build relationships and assess opportunities for improvement. Champion systemwide efforts to improve clinical outcomes, promote high reliability, and meet all regulatory and accreditation standards. Co-lead the Quality and Clinical Outcomes departments, supporting data transparency and continuous improvement. Strategic & Administrative Leadership Collaborate across departments to shape strategic initiatives, allocate resources, and drive innovation. Represent SRHS on internal and external committees, task forces, and advocacy efforts. Present quality and safety performance to the District Board Quality Committee and other senior forums. Medical Staff Relations Serve as an ex-officio member on all medical staff committees. Guide credentialing, medical staff development, professionalism, and physician wellness initiatives. Assist with conflict resolution, peer review, and medical staff counseling. Care Management & Transitions of Care Partner with Nursing, Case Management, and Ambulatory Care teams to optimize patient flow, reduce readmissions, and improve discharge planning. Clinical Informatics & Data Strategy Work with the Chief Medical Information Officer and informatics team to optimize documentation workflows and reduce physician burden. Ensure robust clinical documentation integrity and develop data dashboards to track performance, equity, and outcomes. Media, Marketing & Advocacy Serve as a public-facing clinical voice for SRHS. Collaborate with Marketing and Government Relations on messaging, community engagement, and policy advocacy. Other Responsibilities Participate in or lead philanthropic and community-building efforts that align with SRHS’s mission. Remain informed of trends, technologies, and regulations shaping the future of healthcare.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Education & Credentials MD or DO degree Active License to Practice in SC and ability to receive full SRHS medical staff credentials for your specialty Required Experience Minimum 5 years post-residency clinical experience in an inpatient-focused specialty At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience within an acute care setting Demonstrated commitment to continuous leadership development and regulatory compliance Strong understanding of CMS, DNV, ACGME, and healthcare accreditation standards Background in quality improvement, health equity, and provider engagement Skills & Attributes Visionary leadership and strategic thinking Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills Collaborative approach with the ability to lead change across diverse teams Strong grasp of care transitions, informatics, and performance measurement
