Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician Supervisor with experience in exotic animal care as well as dog and cat care to lead our technical staff. This position requires a motivated professional with excellent leadership abilities, clinical skills, and a passion for delivering top-tier veterinary care to a diverse patient population, including avian, reptile, and small mammal species.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians and assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. Provide hands-on technical support in exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites, with a focus on exotic species. Oversee training and continued education for staff on exotic animal handling, diagnostics, and treatment protocols. Manage technician scheduling, performance evaluations, and assist with hiring decisions. Collaborate with veterinarians and leadership to implement hospital protocols. Maintain inventory, medical equipment, and controlled substance logs in accordance with state and federal regulations. Support client education and communication, particularly regarding the care and husbandry of exotic pets.
Qualifications:
Active CVT license in Florida Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, including at least 1 year with exotic animals. Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in anesthesia, radiology, laboratory procedures, and surgical prep/monitoring. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a high-volume or specialty practice. Fear-Free certification and/or exotics-specific CE credits.
