This is a working supervisory position which also performs animal care duties. Position requires varied shifts, weekends, and some holidays. Creates and supports a positive work environment for staff and volunteers by leading by example, holding team members accountable, and offering support as needed. Responsible for scheduling of tasks. Intervenes as needed to diffuse customer conflicts. Maintains excellent communication with direct supervisor; alerts direct supervisor to any potential concerns within the department. Works closely with the Adoption Team to help create and support a cohesive SPCA team; assists with Adoption tasks as needed. Works with medical staff to monitor the health and behavior of animals; recognizes and responds appropriately to animals with suspected illness; assists with processing and medicating of animals as needed. Works with volunteers to ensure that adopters and visitors are experiencing excellent customer service. Ensures the efficient flow of animals through the facilities by managing daily operations and transport. Works closely with Intake Supervisor to ensure that an appropriate amount of pets are being housed at the Adoption Center at all times. Identifies problems with animal care staff performance and carries out solutions to those problems; ensures that daily tasks and scheduled breaks are completed on time, maintaining efficient workflow throughout the day.

Mic Essential Functions:

Leads animal care team members and works alongside them to feed and clean all animals on premises, assist visitors and adopters with animal meetings, basic building cleaning tasks, transport of animals, perform behavior modifications with animals in our care, implement daily enrichment activities for pets, and assist volunteers with tasks; models appropriate behavior and provides positive coaching or corrective action when necessary Trains, motivates, and coaches employees Creates & supports a positive work environment for staff and volunteers Embraces the philosophy of open adoptions and force-free training methods Maintains the efficient flow of animals through the facility.
