We are looking for a full-time Central Authorizations Specialist to join our team in our Lithia Office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
Must have knowledge of the mission, vision, values, and commitments of the Orthopaedic Medical Group of Tampa Bay. Knowledge of the following is required: Principles of customer service, clerical procedures, obtaining referrals, medical ethics, medical record administration, appointment booking, guidelines for release of medical information, and applicable information systems.
Education:
Successful completion of the approved Medical Assistant or Medical Admin Program is desired. Experience in the clerical field required.
Training:
Working knowledge of introductory word processing and database operations is preferred. Completed checklist for all administrative and EMR processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes required data entry to electronic medical record.
- Receives & distributes information in a timely & efficient manner to facilitate continuity of care.
- Maintains health records and storage and retrieval system.
- Assists in management of communication between patient-provider, insurance, and ancillary departments.
- Reviews patient demographics to match the EMR.
- Responsible for reviewing, updating, inputting, and coordinating medical information by completing required data entry to electronic medical record.
- Responsible for verifying insurance requirements and ensuring required documentation is available prior to scheduling appointments.
- Communicates with providers and office staff, using EMR message system, providing detailed coordination of patient care.
- Communicates with primary care provider (PCP) to inform any delays or barriers to patient care.
- Corrects authorizations that were incorrectly entered into referral system.
- Ensures proper management, security, confidentiality of medical records, adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Accurately approve referrals that fall within their scope of practice as determined by the medical leadership
- Will be required to process 30 plus referrals per day.
- Verifies document and update insurance information with each patient encounter
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Provides excellent customer service and makes follow-up calls to patient.
- Aligns all aspects of job with organization mission & programs.
- Participates with other team members in assessing, improving and providing customer service to patients.
- Helps manage communication between patient and provider and insurance and ancillary departments.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to work a flexible schedule. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but may vary. Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.
