Insurance Authorization Specialist 3t Radiology & Research 20803 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33180 Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Authorizations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our process by ensuring that patients receive the necessary authorizations for the medical imaging services that we provide. This position requires a strong understanding of insurance verification and compliance with HIPAA regulations. The Authorizations Specialist will work closely with insurance carriers to facilitate timely approvals for patient care. Responsibilities Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients prior to scheduled procedures or treatments. Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for various medical imaging services such as MRI, PET, CT, and ultrasounds. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve authorization issues. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review and interpret medical coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) to ensure proper documentation for authorization requests. Collaborate with the billing department to address any discrepancies related to authorizations. Stay informed about changes in managed care policies and procedures that may affect authorization processes. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical imaging office highly preferred. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is mandatory. Strong knowledge of insurance verification processes and managed care systems. Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with various parties. Proficiency in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
