Job Summary:
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining medical records and health information in accordance with established policies and procedures pertaining to the business. These medical records must be in compliance with current state and federal laws, regulations, survey guidelines and professional standards of practice.
Requirements:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Gathers patient demographic and personal information Issues medical files to persons and agencies according to laws and regulations Reviews and completes medical record request reviews Assists with departmental audits and investigations Distributes medical charts to the appropriate departments Maintains quality and accurate medical records by following clinic procedures Ensures patient charts, paperwork and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner Ensures all medical records are protected and kept confidential Files all patient medical records and information Supplies departments with the appropriate documents and forms Completes clerical duties including answering phones, responding to emails, and processing patient records

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills via phone or in-person Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to efficiently multi-task and prioritize work Ability to maintain and uphold confidentiality as required Ability to effectively operate and navigate a computer and computer software Ability to exert physical effort maintaining and distributing files
Education and Experience:
GED or High School Diploma required Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and administration processes Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
HIPPA & OSHA
Compliance Certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 5-10 pounds at times
Travel Requirements:
Required weekly travel between local clinics/office and document storage facility Must have a valid state driver’s license
