Medical Records and Referrals Family Health Care Center 23702 US Highway 80 E, Statesboro, GA 30461 Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records and Referrals Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records, and completion of our referral’s process for multiple patinets and providers, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in a medical office setting, as well as proficiency in various medical records systems. Responsibilities -Medical Records Organize and maintain patient medical records, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. Review and verify the completeness of medical records in accordance with regulatory standards. Process requests for patient information while adhering to privacy regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely updates and corrections to patient records. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to input, retrieve, and manage patient data. Assist in the training of staff on proper documentation practices and record management procedures. Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Respond to inquiries regarding medical records from patients, staff, and authorized third parties. Responsibilities -Referrals Collect all the pertinent clinical notes, labs & radiology results along with demographics and insurance details. Complete and send referral forms, follow up on appointment scheduling, and gather documentation/consult not from referral appointments. Push appointments that have not been scheduled yet. Assist in communication between patients and offices in scheduling referral appointments. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to input, retrieve, and manage patient data. Assist in the training of staff on proper documentation practices and record management procedures. Requirements Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare regulations related to patient privacy. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical record management software. Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
