Validates release of information and ensures compliance with FCH policies and HIPAA regulations. Performs clerical and technical duties such as preparing reports (laboratory reports, radiology results, complete consultant reports, medication administration records). Prepares reports and responds to correspondences as needed. Schedules patients for medical appointments as requested. Actively participates in quality-of-care screen audits to promote quality improvement standards. Assists Health Services Administrator and/or Nursing Leadership team in preparing periodic statistical reports and other management information system requirements. Promotes quality improvement standards by actively participating in the quality-of-care screen audits. Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives and values. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge of principles and practices involved in keeping medical records. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Proficiency and knowledge of standard clinical operating procedures. Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Strong written, oral communication and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail, follow-up and timely completion of assigned tasks. Excellent time management skills and strong ability to work within tight timelines, with the ability to balance competing priorities. Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with medical staff, providers, leadership and clients in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Must be able to work in high-pressure environments. Possess strong judgment, discretion, high level of confidentiality, flexibility and integrity. Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications High School Diploma or GED One (1) year of experience in medical records or health information management OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Preferred Qualifications Training in an accredited medical record program

The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds with prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, viewing a computer and reading a variety of materials.
