Job Description

We offer a full range of inpatient and outpatient treatment methods, including sober living facilities. We treat the whole client, not just the disease. As a Medical Liaison you will ensure smooth and effective processes are implemented and streamlined throughout the day in relation to the medical department. You will also handle client prescription duties including medication ordering and delivery. This position will be based at GateHouse Treatment, but the Medical Liaison will be required to travel to patient pharmacies to perform their daily duties. What You’ll Do Assist medical and clinical staff with scheduling client medical, psychiatric, and related appointments. Enter and maintain accurate medication records in the electronic health record (EHR) and the Electronic Medication Administration Record (EMAR), including timely updates of new or changed medication orders.

Medication Pass Observation:

Observe clients during medication passes to ensure proper procedures are followed in accordance with prescriber orders, company policy, and state/federal guidelines. Audit records of client medication self-administration for compliance with prescriber orders and work with medical, clinical, and operational staff to identify the reason for the discrepancies and to develop, implement, and monitor corrective actions. Complete, review, and/or verify medication counts and compare these to records of client medication self-administration and work with medical, clinical, and operational staff to identify the reason for the discrepancies and to develop, implement, and monitor responses to these findings. Communicate and coordinate with Federally approved Opioid Treatment Programs (commonly called Methadone clinics) to ensure that all necessary requirements are met for shared clients. Communicate and coordinate with pharmacies to ensure that client medications are available to them as prescribed and completing medication pickups when required. Prepare client medications for transportation and storage in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Audit client medication storage for compliance with company, state and federal guidelines. Coordinate with payers under the supervision of medical staff around prior authorizations and other client medication issues. Adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Complete all company training within 3 months of hire date. Other duties as assigned. Education/Experience and Other Requirements High-school diploma (preferred) 1-year of experience in the Behavioral Health Industry (preferred) Ability to maintain clean background/drug screenings and driving record Expertise Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to collaborate across medical, clinical, and operational teams Basic understanding of medication handling and related regulations Effective verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with EMAR systems and HIPAA standards Good organizational and time management abilities
