Job Description
HIM Data Integrity Specialist-FT Jackson Hospital and Clinic 1725 Pine Street, Montgomery, AL 36106 Responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of patient data ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of health data within the organization’s hybrid electronic health record (EHR) system and other health information systems. This role involves processing, validating, identifying data discrepancies, updating health data, including demographic information, medical histories, diagnoses, treatments, and other clinical data to maintain high standards of data integrity. The HIM Data Specialist will work closely with HIM staff to support data management practices and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. Additional education/ certification in Health Information Management or related fields is a plus. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Health Information Management, data entry, or a similar role in a healthcare setting. Credentialed in Health Information Management as an RHIT or CCS not required Specialized computer software; limited telephone, fax or copier use Demonstrated ability to scan, index, analyze, and audit inpatient/outpatient/Emergency Department, etc. records. Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to form effective working relationships with other employees, management, physicians and other customers. In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and standards (AHIMA, AHA). Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and data management software. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to utilize the PC and review charts; visual acuity is also necessary for filing and proofing documents. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Verbal communication and hearing ability to communicate with a multitude of customers; routine lifting of approximately 15 pounds. The ability to meet the attendance requirements of the job. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare data management and experience with healthcare regulations (i.e.
HIPAA, CMS
guidelines) is strongly preferred.
