Full Time Job Summary:

The Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for maintaining the data integrity of the facility and enterprise Master Patient Index across all entities of the Health System. The individual provides resolution of urgent MPI overlay errors impacting patient care and participates in on-call coverage for the MPI team on a rotation basis.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Licensure, Registration and/or

Certification:

None. RHIA or RHIT preferred.

Work Experience:

3 – 4 years related experience inclusive of working in a health care setting with working knowledge of electronic medical record and MPI functionality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate professionally with other departments and medical personnel. Ability to be technically oriented with strong analytic and problem-solving skills. Ability to search databases and use critical thinking to discern correct patient clinical and demographic information in accordance with established procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining the data integrity of the facility and enterprise electronic medical record and Master Patient Index across all entities of the Health System. Provides resolution of urgent MPI or electronic medical record issues or overlay errors impacting patient care. Performs investigation and resolution of non-emergent issues concerning potential medical record electronic errors using daily reports and tasks queues. Understands legacy master electronic medical record as well as the enterprise MPI and the impact on downstream systems. Coordinates and communicates with clinicians, registration, billing, information technology staff and others as needed to facilitate electronic medical record issue resolution and communicates outcomes.

The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.

Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
