Job Summary:
Perform diverse duties related to the electronic medical record. New employee will be assigned to one area of Epic HIM modules (Release of Information, Scanning, Deficiency Analysis) and will work in that area until proficient and able to be trained in an additional work area related to the electronic medical record.
Release of Information:
To provide access to medical records for our organization and community. Provide excellent customer service and maintain the integrity of the medical record per privacy and confidentiality rules.
Scanning:
Responsible for prepping and scanning of medical records accurately and on a timely basis into the electronic medical record system. Research and correct errors made in the processing functions by manually indexing documents to the correct level and managing image quality.
Deficiency Analysis:
Facilitate record completion based on rules and regulations and The Joint Commission requirements by identifying record deficiencies and assisting physicians and/or other staff in the completion of electronic medical records
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. At least one year experience in medical or general office environment preferred. Two year college degree in medical related field preferred. Excellent communication and written skills. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to work in a high call volume environment with many interruptions while maintaining a professional manner. Ability to be flexible and adapts well to change. Ability to deal tactfully with hospital staff, physicians, and general public. Good eye and hand coordination. Ability to evaluate and process documents efficiently. Ability to type 25 wpm. Detail oriented and team oriented.
