GENERAL OVERVIEW
Assembles and scans inpatient, outpatient, and emergency records in a timely manner to expedite patient care and assure complete and accurate medical records Responds to requests for information from internal and external requestors. Follows procedures established to support an organized Department.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare records for scanning according to established procedures, including debriding the chart of electronically interfaced documents, removing superfluous documents, removing staples, placing DIP and PIP sheets, etc. Scan various medical record documents using the high speed scanner. Answer and respond to telephone calls, retrieve and file patient records in the permanent, incomplete and diagnostic file sections of the Medical Record Department. Retrieve various reports/documents as requested for patient care and other administrative purposes. Distribute doctors’ mail.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High school diploma/GED A minimum of one year of filing and/or clerical experience is required Basic PC skills required. Office filing – minimum test of 87% Basic computer literacy – minimum test of 85% Preferred Prior Medical Record experience preferred.
