We are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team in Birmingham, AL. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, delivering exceptional customer service, supporting administrative functions and partnering with onsite medical staff. Our ideal candidate thrives in a professional medical environment (knowledge of MAT Medical-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder helpful) demonstrates professionalism, and is committed to patient confidentiality and satisfaction. While most of our services are fully virtual, this position will be in-person in our Birmingham, Alabama office, working with an onsite Registered Nurse. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors courteously and professionally at the front desk Answer and direct incoming phone calls; manage patient inquiries Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EMR) systems Collect and update patient information, process payments, and maintain organized patient records Ensure the waiting area is clean and welcoming Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and resolve any scheduling or billing issues Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, and data entry. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical administration is a plus Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare front office preferred. Proficiency with phone systems, EMR software, and standard office equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology and clinic operations preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment. Professional, positive attitude and problem-solving abilities.
