The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating surgical procedures by coordinating schedules, managing patient information, and ensuring seamless communication between patients and medical staff. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and excellent customer service skills to enhance patient experiences. Responsibilities Coordinate surgical schedules and ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and reviewed prior to procedures. Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, post-operative care, and any necessary follow-up appointments. Review and verify insurance information, ensuring that all authorizations are obtained prior to surgery. Maintain accurate patient records within electronic health record systems such as Epic and Nextech Assist in the documentation review process to ensure compliance with medical standards and regulations. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally. Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth surgical operations. Utilize coding for accurate billing and coding processes. Support the medical office team in various administrative tasks as needed. Requirements Proven experience as a Surgical Coordinator or in a similar role within a medical office setting. Strong understanding of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and documentation requirements. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is an asset. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professionalism at all times. Prior experience as a medical receptionist or in patient service roles is highly desirable.
