The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely payments from insurance companies and patients. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The candidate will also assist with check-in of patients at reception desk. Duties Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems. Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing. Utilize ICD-10 coding standards to ensure correct diagnosis codes are applied. Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with legal regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient information or billing issues. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies. Check insurance for eligibility and complete prior authorizations for in-office, ASC II facilities, and hospital OR. Ensure accurate patient information at time of check-in. Collect copayment for office visits and procedures. Skills Proficient understanding of medical terminology and its application in billing processes. Experience with medical coding systems, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) and ICD codes. Strong knowledge of medical collection practices and procedures. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software. Experience using Athena a plus. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. This position is essential for ensuring that our medical office operates smoothly while providing high-quality service to our patients.
