Job Description
Receptionist/Registrar/Medical Records Clerk Precision Bone and Joint Surgery Center Hobe Sound, FL 33455 Medical Records Clerk/Receptionist/Registrar needed for new ambulatory surgery center. We are seeking an outgoing, friendly team player to join our center. We need someone organized, efficient, and ethical. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED. Minimum two years of experience in a health care setting and a minimum of one year of experience as a registrar and/or records clerk preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have a basic knowledge of receptionist, registrar, and Medical records responsibilities; and must possess the ability to handle stress.
Duties:
Maintains patient records, scans medical records upon completion, and retrieves prior files for scheduled appointments. Files all patient data upon receipt of information Ensures that cases have been dictated by the surgeon Responds to requests for medical records while making sure the correct and completed release of records is provided by the requestor Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information is secured Must be available to be the backup to open the surgical center at the appropriate time in the morning ( The hours will vary between 5-6:00 am ) as necessary. Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person and over the phone Answers the phone while maintaining polite and proper phone etiquette Responsible for keeping the waiting area clean and organized Checks in new and existing patients, verifies demographics and insurance information by collecting a valid photo identification and insurance care and comparing to the registration form Notifies patients of financial responsibility Updates any information in the computer system after verification Communicates any insurance information changes to the Insurance Verifier/Scheduler or other pertinent staff Collects patients’ estimated out-of-pocket expenses at the time of service Reconcile upfront collections at the end of the shift Facilitates patient flow by notifying the appropriate nursing staff of patient arrivals, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff Responds to patients’ and visitors’ questions in a courteous manner Keeps business office supplies adequately stocked Prepare charts for the upcoming procedures Communicate with the Nurse Administrator/Business Office Manager about any problems or issues Assist with other duties in the business office as necessary
