POSITION:
Medical Receptionist (Clinic Operations)
SUMMARY:
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for initial triage of patients and administrative intake of initial information for patients and visitors to the clinical sites. This function includes intake, notification and census roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome all patients and answers all incoming calls in a professional caring manner. Document all incoming calls in the EMR, and route them to other staff as an appropriate. Schedule all appointments including labs and diagnostics. Abide, orient and help others (patients and staff) follow established office policies and procedures. Confirm appointments for services in a due diligent fashion. Follow up call to all no shows and document it in the EMR. Check in all patients Assist and review new patients with completion of new forms. Review and verify insurance eligibility and inform patients of any responsibility. Collect all charges to be paid by the patient including co-pays, deductibles, and/or outstanding balances. Maintain medical records log and take care of all requests for records and mail out records. Offer the patient portal platform to patients and generate PIN numbers for them. Review and respond to daily EMR patient portal messages. Finish the end of the day closing duties which may include: preparation of the day sheet, recording charges, payments, balancing day sheets and preparing bank deposits. Check out all patients
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend and coordinate regular meetings. Participate in cross training to be able to cover according to business needs. Maintain the front office and waiting area clean and presentable. Perform other duties as assign.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school Diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) year of medical experience preferred Customer service experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written skills Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Ability to be collaborative and effectively communicate with patient Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to customer’s needs; solicit customer feedback to improve service. Ability to have strong sense of urgency and be proactive Ability to solve practical problems and deal with stressful situations Ability to multitask. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
