SHIFT:
Day Shift Summary:
The Unit Secretary operates within Landmark Hospital’s Core Values to support clinical activities of the organization. This is done under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. Serves as the primary receptionist and secretarial resource for the nursing unit.
Responsibilities:
Communicates effectively with other staff members in the support of patient care. Assists in ordering supplies and tracking charges. Directs communication with the nursing unit Prepares and ensures completion of patients’ medical records. Assists nurses with order transcription. Participates in professional and staff development Providing administrative support such as answering phones, handling incoming mail, and scheduling patient appointments. Prepare and maintain patient charts, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date Serve as a resource for information, providing direction and assistance to patients, families, staff and visitors. Communicate changes in patient condition to the nursing staff. Assist with discharge planning, collecting all required paperwork.
Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalent (preferred) 1-3 years of Patient Care Tech and/or Unit Secretary in a hospital/healthcare setting is (strongly preferred) BLS Certification (required) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Team, detail and goal oriented. Positive, professional and empathetic demeanor Ability to work flexible schedules
LIGHT WORK
Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and/or 10 lbs. frequently.
Key Competencies:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications Proficient with Medical Software Familiarity with medical terminology Exceptional organizational skills and attention to details
