Job Description
Unit Secretary 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars Job Overview The Unit Secretary is responsible for coordinating all activities in the nurses’ station related to patient care as follows: answer telephones and call lights; maintain patient charts; interact with physicians, staff, patients, and visitors. The Unit Secretary must have a pleasant personality, good telephone skills, be able to clearly enunciate words and have exceptional organizational skills. This employee must have good time management skills and be able to multi-task. Duties Maintain and organize medical records, including filing. Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, addressing patient inquiries and directing calls appropriately. Provide clerical support to medical staff, including typing reports, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies. Ensure compliance with health information management standards while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Requirements Formal Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Less than 6 months Experience in a healthcare setting preferred Excellent verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills required. General clerical and organizational skills required
