Pediatric Medical Clinic –
Receptionist Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and families warmly, creating a welcoming and child-friendly environment Check patients in and out for appointments, verify and update patient information Schedule appointments and manage the physician’s calendar using electronic medical records (EMR) systems Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and route calls to appropriate staff Collect co-pays and other payments; provide receipts and maintain accurate records Confirm insurance coverage, obtain prior authorizations, and assist with insurance forms Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines Assist with filing, faxing, scanning, and other administrative duties as needed Communicate with medical staff to ensure timely patient flow and accurate records Support parents and caregivers with questions regarding visits, billing, or referrals
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical office training preferred Previous experience in a medical office, preferably pediatric or family practice Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and families Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment/Schedule:
Front desk or reception area in a pediatric clinic or hospital Frequent interaction with children, parents, healthcare providers, and administrative staff Monday – Friday 8am-5pm; One Saturday p/month required 9am-12pm. You will work half a day on Friday before your scheduled Saturday shift.
