Medical Office Receptionist Cope Center for Autism 579 Franklin Turnpike, Ridgewood, NJ 07450 Company Overview The Cope Center for Autism is a non-profit organization aimed at supporting autistic children and their families. We operate a medical practice that evaluates children to determine if they meet the criteria for autism and provides follow-up care. In addition, our parent support team is there to educate families and answer questions about autism treatment and services. Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our small but growing team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing essential administrative support while ensuring a welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office settings and be proficient in handling medical records, billing, and coding tasks. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar. Handle incoming calls and office voicemail, addressing inquiries and directing calls as necessary. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Process insurance claims and perform medical billing tasks, including insurance verification and collection of co-pays and self-pay amounts. Maintain accurate patient information and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Coordinate follow-up testing for patients, including correspondence with outside facilities to schedule testing and ensure receipt of results. Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate effective patient communication. Assist with scheduling and administrative tasks with respect to parent support services. Monitor office supplies and inventory levels, placing orders as necessary. Provide excellent customer service to children and their families. Qualifications Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role, especially in pediatrics, is preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient communication. Proficiency in medical billing processes. Experience with electronic health record systems, particularly Practice Fusion, is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and staff. Ability to work as an effective team member with a willingness to help out as needed. Ability to take initiative and anticipate the needs of staff.
