A non-profit in Philadelphia is looking to fill a position for aMedical Front Desk person.

Job Summary:

The Receptionist/Schedulerhas the primary responsibility of managing the providers’appointment schedule and registering patients using the practicemanagement system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Answerincoming calls as they are presented. Greet patients, register,check in, schedule and answer patient questions. Update the patientmanagement system when needed to indicate a patient has arrived oris scheduled. As a front desk team member, thereceptionist/scheduler plays an essential role in helping thepractice maintain Patient Centered Medical Home standards. ScheduleMedical Assistant visits in accordance with SKWC processes. Ensureall patients have accepted insurance or are uninsured. Confirm andrecord accurate patient information including insurance, address,apartment number and phone number (s). Schedule appropriatepatients with Benefits Counselor. Assist in the scheduling ofappointments with providers at the organization’s HealthcareServices (PHHS) locations and other agencies. Perform confirmationcalls for patient appointments. Prepare daily mailings that aregiven to the Front Office by the clinical team. Maintain patients’and visitors’ privacy and confidentiality. Treat all (staff,patients, and guests) with courtesy and respect.

Other Functions:

Inform patients about policies and procedures of the WellnessCenter. Collect all appropriate patient fees as stated in theSliding Fee Schedule Alert. Follow all Alert notes Support BenefitsCounselor with insurance eligibility and sliding fee schedule whenrequested by Practice Manager. Assist patients with changingPrimary Care Physician when needed. Assist in maintaining a calmatmosphere in waiting area. Support the Front Desk Lead in ensuringthat guests arriving at the Wellness Center for non-clinicalappointments and meetings sign the visitors’ log then contact theappropriate person in the building. Be attentive to the movement ofstaff and guests entering and leaving the building. Assist FrontDesk Lead with Package Delivery process Assist Front Desk Lead withscanning when requested Be available for cross training whenrequested and assist with Dental Front Desk tasks Allow clinicaccess to staff, guests, and patients and identified deliverypeople only. Log and report any unusual activity. Perform all otherduties as assigned The information contained herein is not intendedto be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities ofthe job. Ability to performWorld Class Customer Service Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellenttelephone manners and ability to deliver World Class CustomerService Prior experience using a Practice Management System(Nextgen or other) One-year related work experience, preferably ina medical office setting. Strong computer and organizationalskills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability towork independently and to collaborate as a member of a team.

Ability to handle stressful situations while providing exceptionalcustomer service. Excellent communication skills includingdiplomacy and tact with patients. Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills. Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude.

Ability to remain solution-focused and respectful in allinteractions with staff, co-workers, vendors, and clients.

Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Abilityto work in an atmosphere where people may be hostile or abusive.

Knowledge of de-escalation methods or willingness to be trained inthese methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experiencedelivering services to persons with histories of homelessness,mental illness, substance dependence, and trauma would be helpful.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred Physical requirements:
