Summary:
The Medical Secretary is a key member of the Physician Practice performing secretarial duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Duties include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Two to Four years of relevant work experience as a Medical Secretary in a medical/physician’s office preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
- Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Knowledge working with EMR/EHR, Meditech, and Athena preferred.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or
Safety Requirements:
General pleasant working environment with little or no distractions or exposure to unpleasant or hazardous elements. Meets all safety training requirements associated with the Company and Access Center. Duties are a combination of extensive mental and manual skills. Manual skills are required such as finger, eye and hand dexterity for such activities as utilization of a computer. Will sit at desk most of the day
