Job Summary and Qualifications As a Unit Secretary, you will act as the primary secretarial resource for nurse and nursing support staff on the unit. You will assist in ordering supplies and other assigned duties. You will direct communications within the nursing unit and enter patient information in the patient’s electronic medical record. What you will do in this role: Greet and direct visitors at the nurses’ station in a friendly and prompt manner. This includes over the phone inquiries too. Assist the Charge Registered Nurse by coordinating non-clinical activities on the nursing unit. Send faxes, make copies, and order supplies for the unit. Organize and take apart a patient’s chart upon admission and discharge. Initiate the processing of physician’s orders and manage information flow among nursing staff, physicians, ancillary departments, patients and other unit guests.

What qualifications you may need:

A high school diploma is required, AS Degree preferred. A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment. 1 or more years of experience is preferred.
