As Southeast Orthopedic Specialists continues to grow, we are actively hiring a Full-Time Medical Scribe located in Jacksonville, FL! Please see below for the functions and requirements needed in order to be considered for this position:

GENERAL SUMMARY

Assist providers with appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in the EHR system, allowing them to spend more face-to-face time with the patient. They accurately document the events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. Scribes also complete clerical activities necessary to assist with the processing of physician orders for tests and medications, as well as gathering necessary information such as labs, radiology reports, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accurate, timely charting of patient encounters, including but not limited to patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers, treatment course, diagnoses, discharge instructions and prescriptions.
Professional, non-intrusive interaction with patients, physicians, and other co-workers.
Compliance with HOPCo policies, including those relating to confidentiality of patient information.
Assist with all aspects of patient care and coordination of care as deemed necessary
Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to training other Scribes and staff.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position.

EDUCATION

Requires graduation from a Medical Assistant training program at an accredited institution, certification as a Nursing
Assistant Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), graduation from a Scribe training program at an accredited institution, or a
minimum of 1 year of Orthopedic scribe experience.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 2 years of back-office work experience or applicable work experience is preferred. Experience in orthopedics is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of health care field and orthopedics.
Knowledge of policies and procedures with regard to patient care in the clinics.
Knowledge of back office skills to include injections, sutures, and staple removal, DME orders, and Physical Therapy orders.
Knowledge of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.
SKILLS
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high professional ethical standards.
Must be able to problem solve under pressure.
Coordinate multiple projects and patients.

ABILITIES

Ability to learn and appropriately apply basic medical terminologies and techniques taught and used on the job.
Ability to actively listen with strong written and verbal communication skills. Keyboard proficiency
Ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
Ability to operate a personal computer and related software applications.
Understanding of and commitment to appropriate protection of confidential patient information.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.
Some travel within the community.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
Some bending and stretching required.
Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
