KWB Pathology Associates has been in practice for more than half a century and is a local, 100% pathologist-owned laboratory and practice which serves the greater Big Bend area of Florida. We strive for excellence in caring for our patients, our clients, and our employees. Pay range is $17.50 to $20.50 per hour depending on experience. The hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Two years experience as a medical transcriptionist required
• Certificate of completion of medical transcription course preferred but not required

Job Qualifications/Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical procedures, medications and laboratory test information
• Competency with transcribing equipment and computer software for preparing reports
• Excellent command of English language, grammar, and punctuation.
• Ability to work independently and produce prompt, accurate reports

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Transcribe directly from voice recordings and prepare computerized reports using correct terminology, spelling and punctuation.
• Verifies patient information for accuracy.
• Edits as necessary for clarity, but must always be careful not to alter the meaning of the raw, dictated material.
• Answer telephone calls to department as necessary.
• Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements:

• Good hearing to understand and record medical reports accurately
• Good finger dexterity to prepare computerized reports
• Good visual acuity to proofread reports for accuracy
• Ability to sit and concentrate for extended periods of time
