Medical Assistant/Front Desk (Part-time)
Hours:

Job Summary:
A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in healthcare facilities, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of medical practices, hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare settings. They are responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in patient care, maintaining medical records, and performing various administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for examinations by measuring vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight). Assist with medical procedures, examinations, and treatments. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing. Perform basic wound care and first aid as necessary.
Medical Records and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history and treatment plans. Record patient information in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Complete insurance forms, verify insurance, get referrals, and other administrative documents.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage the healthcare provider’s calendar. Answer phone calls, greet patients, and provide information or assistance as needed. Manage and organize medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations. Handle billing and insurance-related tasks, including verifying insurance coverage. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and order new supplies when necessary.
Infection Control:
Follow strict infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, sanitization, and disposal of biohazardous materials. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms and medical equipment.
Patient Education:
Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and self-care instructions. Provide information on preventive healthcare measures and wellness programs.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with healthcare providers, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Assist with training and supervision of other medical assistants or healthcare support staff. Coordinate with other scribes/assistants for continuity of care.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic healthcare principles. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
