Full Job Description Note:
This position will travel 3 days a week to Waynesboro and 2 days a week to Augusta.
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director, the Medical Scribe supports the work of the provider by entering pertinent data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The scribe’s core responsibility is to capture accurate and detailed documentation (handwritten, electronic, or otherwise) of the encounter in a timely manner. The Scribe does not make independent decisions or translations while capturing or entering information into the health record or EHR beyond what is directed by the provider DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Chart in real-time as the provider assesses and examines the patient Assisting the provider in navigating the EHR Document the history, physical exam, assessment and plan, results, procedures, treatment, and physician consultations Record provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient follow-up Locate and obtain past medical histories, previous charts, past results and studies Transcribe ancillary test results and their interpretations Check on the progress of labs, imaging studies, and other patient data Retrieve and display current and past EKGs and imaging films (e.g. X-rays) for the provider to review and record provider’s interpretation Researching information requested by the provider Understand basic ICD-10 documentation requirements Comply with all national and local PHI laws including in HIPAA and HITECH Comply with all facility, department, company policies and procedures Other non-clinical tasks as assigned
EDUCATION
Associates Degree in health science, science, biology, or related field
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
Knowledge of medical terminology and/or demonstrated ability to learn and appropriately apply basic medical terminologies and techniques taught and used on the job Exceptional written, verbal and active listening skills Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications Minimum 50 net word per minute Ability to accurately spell and use proper grammar Ability to accurately and quickly record information Excellent judgement and understanding of ethical concerns related to patient care Excellent organizational skills and ability to track tasks. Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families Excellent attention to details Learn new applications quickly
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to actively listen Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to read computer monitor for long periods of time Ability to keyboard and use mouse and/or touchpad for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs Ability to work in confined quarters

Well lighted professional office environment Time-limited projects and milestones may create a more intense work environment May be stressful at times due to patient and/or employee interactions Scribe will be limited to outpatient clinics of MAP.
