00 The Physician Assistant (PA) is a credentialedposition required to function in and practice in an expandedspecialty. The PA has the responsibility and accountability for theassessment and management of patients, including orderingdiagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions and thedaily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care.
Provides comprehensive healthcare sensitive to the needs of thepopulation, including assessment, diagnosing, prescribing, andreferrals where appropriate. Enabling patient choice in provisionof care, complementing roles of MD and multidisciplinary team. ThePA augments a physician’s ability to provide medical services topatients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic andtherapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies andprofessional consultations and provide direct patient careservices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applies knowledgeof anatomy, principles or theories of neurology, microbiology,physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology,gerontology, human growth and development, human developmentaldisease, and medical terminology as appropriate in an urgent caresetting and as appropriate for level of medical licensure. Conductpatient assessments and complete physical examinations, collectclinical data including vital signs, collecting specimens, preparepatients for tests, therapy, or treatments, order and interpretmedical laboratory test results, diagnose medical condition ofpatient, administer medications or treatments and perform minorsurgery. Knowledge of the information and techniques needed todiagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. Thisincludes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties andinteractions, and preventive health-care measures. Staffs ouroutpatient addiction medicine clinic in conjunction with theattending physicians. Rounds and coordinates care for our inpatientconsult service for patients who are admitted to other servicesincluding Trauma, Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Ob/Gyn.
Coordinates care for ED patients who present with opioid usedisorder and related complaints. Works with attending physicians toprovide clinical support and education for providers caring forpatients with opioid use disorder. Collaborates with our communitypartners to enhance access to medical assisted therapy for opioiduse disorder. Completes accurate patient coding for effectivebilling, maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports,and maintain inventory of medical supplies and instruments. Servesas a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure thesmooth flow of patient processing, treatment and dischargeincluding patient triaging. Physical Demands Standing
