Note:
The Orthopedic Specialist will NOT be working or interacting with members of a correctional facility. Must be legally allowed to work in the US without sponsorship for any employer. The orthopedic specialist will provide independent, objective orthopedic evaluations of staff’s fitness for full duty. The role is strictly evaluative; no treatment will be provided; however, the successful candidate will be expected to follow protocols with orthopedic issues until they are returned full duty. Conduct thorough orthopedic evaluations, including physical examinations, patient history reviews, and assessment of medical records and diagnostic imaging. Document all clinical findings and recommendations in the patient’s medical record using industry-standard formats. Refer eligible individuals for further case management review when medical separation or retirement considerations apply. Provide consultations, both remotely and on-site, as needed. This may include case reviews, pre-trial meetings, testimony preparation, and participation in legal or administrative proceedings. Prepare detailed written reports outlining medical findings, diagnoses, and functional limitations relevant to the individual’s occupational requirements. Maintain objectivity and confidentiality in all evaluations, adhering to established privacy and ethical guidelines. Attend required meetings, hearings, or proceedings to clarify or support medical conclusions when necessary. If any legal or administrative review arises—including challenges to evaluation outcomes—provide necessary professional support, including expert analysis and testimony to substantiate decisions. Time spent in preparation for or participation in legal proceedings, including expert analysis, will be compensated at the designated professional rate. Requirements Must be licensed as a physician in the State of New York Must be Board Certified as an orthopedic specialist Must meet all applicable state and departmental requirements for licensure and good standing Adhere to all applicable medical, ethical, and legal standards.
