Follows propertechnique when administering medications and completes medicationpass safely within the allotted time frame 100% of the time.
Documents appropriately and accurately all medications passed andfollows established standards and guidelines of the nursingdepartment. Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment on themedication carts and alerts charge nurse with the need for anysupplies or medications in a timely manner. Ensures that themedication cart remains locked and is properly stocked and cleanedat the beginning and end of each shift. Monitors residents’responses to medication and reports observations to Charge Nurse.
Administers PRN medication with Charge Nurse approval. Continues tomonitor the residents’ responses to the PRN medication throughoutthe assigned shift and reports any uncommon behaviors or sideeffects to the charge nurse. Works with Charge Nurse to reorder anymedications that may be dropped, spilled, or wasted. Works safelyand uses proper procedures to minimize loss and ensure theprotection of assigned residents. Successfully completes job dutiesas CMT by attending continuing education classes and in-services,accepting reassignments to other areas, taking on increasedresponsibilities, and keeping RN and LPN informed of pertinentinformation that may require follow-up. Interacts and maintainseffective working relationships with team members, charge nurse,and department managers. Maintains discretion in handlingconfidential information. Gives report to charge nurse at the endof each shift and completes walking rounds with the oncoming orleaving shift. Answers residents’ call lights and assists withresident ADL’s as needed. May be assigned other duties asappropriate. Job Qualifications High school diploma preferred, butnot required Certification as a Nurse Assistant in the state youwill be working Certification as a Medication Technician in thestate you will be working Insulin certification required, orwilling to obtain within six months of employment CPR certificationrequired, or willing to obtain within six months of employmentRecent long-term care experience preferred Excellent communicationskills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staffAbility to manage time and organize daily schedule to meetproductivity standards Ability to stand and walk for long periodsof time Ability to lift heavy objects using proper liftingtechniques and with assistance as necessary Ability to transfer andmove patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200lbs usingproper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary Abilityto push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using propertechniques and with assistance as necessary Manual dexterity,coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patientsand equipment Ability to physically perform necessary documentationin writing or use of tape recorder Visual acuity with the abilityto distinguish color Pay range: $16.08- $25.24 per hour
