The National Mental Health Corps is on a mission to revolutionize mental health support! We’re harnessing the power of community to tackle the mental health crisis head-on, using evidence-based gatekeeper programs to empower and educate.
Your Mission:
As an AmeriCorps Member, you’ll be the heartbeat of our mission, training community heroes to prevent, detect, and support those with mental health challenges. You’ll bring your energy and expertise to deliver impactful programs like Mental Health First Aid. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Responsibilities:
- Get trained as an instructor for evidence-based mental health programs (Date & Location TBD).
- Lead mental health certification courses in your community.
- Reach out to local organizations, community leaders, and the public to promote training sessions.
- Spread the word through social media, press releases, and community events.
- Track and report participant progress through evaluations.
- Partner with mental health organizations and serve as a resource for participants.
- Keep participant information private and respect confidentiality.
- Advocate for mental health by sharing what you learn and teaching others.
- Help with grant writing to support mental health initiatives.
- Join AmeriCorps national service projects and monthly calls.
- Support your host site’s mental health programs and events.
What We’re Looking For:
- Deep personal or professional insight into mental health
- Stellar teaching and training skills, especially with adult learners
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude toward reducing mental health stigma
- Experience facilitating groups and creating engaging learning environments

- Complete 1,700 service hours
- 40 hours per week, 5 holidays, 2.5 personal days
- $7,395 Education Award upon completion
- $21,000 stipend for service
