Job Summary:
Under supervision of a Licensed Clinical SocialWorker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist or a LicensedProfessional Clinical Counselor, provides mental health assessmentand triage, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention servicesfor adult and/or child members who present themselves forpsychiatric evaluation with a broad range of mental health needs.
Under supervision, may collaborate with treating primary careproviders and with psychiatric and allied health professional teammembers to plan and direct each individual patients treatmentprogram.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Confers and consults withsupervisor regarding members progress and treatment and may consultwith psychiatrist as well, if both are involved in members care.
- May provide appropriate support to members family, includingexplanation of treatment, instructions in how to support treatmentand interventions to increase acceptance of and adherence totreatment, at members request.
- Utilizes resources of public andprivate agencies and community organizations to meet the needs ofthe members treatment to include referral of the member and/ormembers family to external resources, as appropriate. Participatesin departmental program development, implementation and evaluation
- Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.
- Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates clinical treatmentprograms for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of HealthPlan members with acute or chronic mental illness.
Participates instaff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs.
Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, familiesand groups. Instructs and counsels patients and their familiesregarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens andadherence to prescribed medication regimens, within the scope ofpractice. May administer specialized therapeutic procedures, asappropriate. Provides appropriate support to members family. Maydevelop and conducts psychoeducational classes and groups.
- Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans, and case summaries andmaintains ongoing confidential records. Charts members treatmentand progress in accord with Kaiser Permanente, state and NCQAregulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.
- Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating patientsfor psychotropic medications, within the scope of practice.
Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and communityorganizations to meet the needs of the members treatment. Maydevelop, implements, and evaluates behavioral medicine and healthpsychology programs in a variety of settings, including primarycare. Provides consultation to primary care providers and healtheducators on matters relating to mental health, health psychologyand behavioral medicine.

- Masters degree in Social Work, Social Welfare from aclinical track, Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related fieldrequired from an accredited college or university by start date.
License, Certification, Registration
- Associate Marriage andFamily Therapist (California) from State of California Board ofBehavioral Sciences OR Associate Professional Clinical CounselorRegistration (California) from State of California Board ofBehavioral Sciences OR Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker(California) from
State of California Board of Behavioral SciencesAdditional Requirements:
- Once hired as an Associate, an employeewill be offered and must work a schedule that would accumulate atleast half the required supervisory hours annually.
- Uponcompletion of supervised hours, employee must obtain one of thefollowing California state licenses within 24 months of hire:
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Marriage andFamily Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Must befamiliar with DSM-V as a means of diagnosis.
- Has experience inassessing, diagnosing and treating a broad range of psychiatricconditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, andprofessional board standards as is related to member treatment,patient rghts, and member/patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge ofEvidence-Based Practice and psychotherapy research methods.
- Knowledge of the bio-psycho-social functions that contribute tomental health.
- Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developingeffective treatment plans.
- Competence in individual, familyand/or group psychotherapy.
- Professional maturity and ethicalintegrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
- Commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in ahighly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
- Ability to completemultiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
- Must be able towork in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
PreferredQualifications:
- Previous clinical responsibility to includecrisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy.
- Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity necessaryfor assuming professional responsibilities, preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to quality of service, teamwork, andparticipation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinicpreferred
- Demonstrated ability to complete multipletasks/objectives in a timely manner, preferred
- Accuracy indiagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans,preferred
- Competence in individual, family and grouppsychotherapy, preferred.
