Job Description

POSITION TITLE

MTSS Behavior Interventionist

REPORTS TO

Assistant Superintendent-Student Services

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist in supporting positive behavioral change in students by
developing interventions and behavior plans for the purpose of promoting equitable student
achievement. Assists in helping schools determine best practices and assists with supporting
school needs. Funding for the Behavior Specialist position is reimbursed by Special School
District.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions
Works as a part of a multi-tiered systems of support school-based teams to facilitate the
provision of holistic, student-centered behavioral interventions.
Provides ongoing consultation and treatment planning support for school administrators,
counselors, social workers, and teaching personnel to meet the needs of individual
students and school programs.
Provides evidence based assessment, intervention, consultation, and referral services for
students/families with a variety of behavioral, environmental, and social-emotional
concerns.
Works cooperatively as an integral part of the student services team with the goal of
improving student academic success and increasing team efficiency.
Formulates and facilitates the implementation of positive behavioral plans through the
use of appropriate interventions, and available community resources.
Master proficiency competence through professional reading and attending appropriate
workshops, courses, and conferences in keeping with the needs of students and in
accordance with district guidelines.
Assists school administrators, social workers, teaching personnel with screening,
identification, management, and treatment of behavioral health.
Engages in ongoing assessment and quality improvement strategies to assist in the
implementation of ongoing behavioral and social-emotional integration strategies.
Provides consultative services to school care team members within the scope of care
definitions and provides training as needed.
Completes, in a timely manner, all required documentation related to student success.
Engages in conducting observations, functional behavioral assessments, and behavior
support plans.
Maintains working knowledge of and collaborates with district and community agencies
and resources.
Communicates with school, teachers and parents regarding behavior needs of students.
Provides equity and access for all students.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Abilities:

These skills may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly

Must have a foundation of applied behavior analysis.
Must have an understanding of behavioral characteristics as it relates to trauma.
Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Able to stay grounded in emotionally charged situations.
Has ability to create written correspondents with all stakeholders and present data.
Maintains appropriate records and information.
Create training presentations and presentations.

Education:

Create training presentations and presentations.
Five years teaching experience or providing related behavioral services.
Experience with working with students with special needs.
Three years of successful experience working with students with behavioral regulation
needs.
Knowledge of/Experience with:
Knowledge of tests/measures
Skilled in systems thinking and analyzing
Skilled communicator

with assistance.
