Job Description

DSP – Day Program 2.0 2.0 out of 5 stars 275 Monroe Road, Lexington, NC 27292 Essential Functions An employee in this class will assist persons served in completion of program plan goals, in order to acquire skills that they have not previously gained or need to refine and that they need additional support to do so. These areas of training include but are not limited to, mobility, self-care/daily living skills, self-advocacy, personal safety, vocational skills, socialization, etc. This position also requires the ability to handle, move, load, etc. production materials, and the use of various production tools. Responsibilities include; working with persons served to assist them in reaching their goals, implementing behavioral plans, completing progress notes on a regular basis, teaching methods of production to further them into gainful employment, teaching activities or wellness skills, assisting in community integration, volunteer opportunities/ activities, and development of self-help skills, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Material handling responsibilities include moving, packing, unpacking, wrapping, pallets, stapling, sealing, assisting in moving materials in and out of the warehouse, loading the truck, and other duties as required. Supervision Received The work is performed under the direction of the Executive Director, Program Manager, Program Coordinator and Production Manager in accordance with established policies, procedures, and objectives. Performance is evaluated by the Executive Director and by written evaluation annually. General Duties and Responsibilities Uphold the rights of the individual served at all times. Ability to self start Ability to plan and carry out creative ideas and activities for persons served Maintain confidentiality of individual served and other persons receiving services in all settings but especially when assisting in toileting, hygiene tasks, changing clothes, medications, etc. Maintain confidentiality of all records, files etc. for all programs. Ensure that individuals are supervised and engaged in age appropriate and meaningful activities at all times. Work with individuals on reaching individualized goals and improvement of work and personal skills. Maintains a record of each individual’s production work and activity’s, completes payroll forms, attendance, downtime records, daily grids, etc.

Monthly Progress Reports Quarterly Progress Questionnaire Work Habits Rating Form Short Scale Edition Questionnaire Booklet Accident/illness/incident reports Daily Progress Reports (accurate goal documentation, data sheets, production, activities, downtime records, etc.) Daily Attendance Completion of client payroll Instruct individual in good work habits and encourage improvement in production work and activities. Rotate to other individuals/groups as requested. Follow health care regulations, behavior regulations, and individuals written behavior plans. Communicate professionally and positively with individuals, parent/guardians, caregivers, visitors and other professionals. Adhere to The Workshop of Davidson Inc. training criteria and curriculum, including attendance in staff meetings and organizational training sessions to improve professional competence. Ability to successfully demonstrate competence in all areas of training and to successfully pass all competency testing and demonstration requirements. Assist individuals with personal hygiene tasks/toileting as needed and/or required by their personal plans. Work as a team member with Coordinators to define and meet the individual’s goals and needs including participation in the individuals Person Centered Plan development meeting. Support individuals through their daily activities and ensure that such activities are performed in an effort to meet individual goals. Assist coordinators with the assessment of progress of individuals served. Complete routine paperwork daily (e.g. attendance, data sheets, professional contact forms, record of daily production, types of down time activities, number of hours worked in assigned section, etc. and any other needed documentation) and submit to supervisor by due date. Responsible for setting up or assisting individual in setting up work training or activities area. Have the ability to demonstrate and instruct steps in completing a task. Have the skills and knowledge of working materials and equipment. Will abide by, enforce, and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all Workshop safety standards and regulations. Will also assist with emergency management and completion of drills. Understand individuals behavior plan and be able to assess the individual’s needs and communicate to supervisor any identified needs that require additional support. Communicate need for work or necessary supplies, problems, questions, and issues, regarding individuals needs/concerns to the coordinator. Assist with the development of and follow individual’s schedules. Assist in providing a safe, positive, stimulating learning and social environment. Assist in scheduling and coordinating activities for individuals; encourage the individual to participate in community activities. Administer simple first aid. Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment in any necessary scenarios. Ability to assist with medication administration. Assist individual with money management. Transport persons served in vans or as needed personal vehicles. Assist persons served in safe access to the community in field trips, athletic, and activity environments and will ensure the safety and well-being of persons served at all times. Ability to assist in mobility or transfer in toileting and vehicle type scenarios. As necessary monitor eating habits of persons served for safe consumption of foods and beverages. Assist in production as needed. Supervises loading goods shipped out and material brought in and completion of delivery tickets in absence of Production Manager Ability to set up jobs, get work materials, keep up with production, count, sort, assist in packing, and other tasks that ensure successful completion of production tasks. Ability to supervise production tasks and to assist with retraining or correcting work to ensure proper quality control and that all materials that leave the Workshop are accurate and jobs are completed in a timely and correct manner. Have the ability to demonstrate and instruct steps in completing a task. Ability to move pallets of work materials in and out of the building, and on to delivery truck Ability to pack and wrap skids Ability to lift work from pallets and place in work area Ability to operate a pallet jack, dolly, tape gun, box cutter, skid wrapper, air gun, industrial stapler, sealer, and other work materials as required to assist in materials management and completion of production. Work with persons served on one on one basis as needed for vocational training, activities completion, completion of individualized goals, improvement of work and activities skills, and document interventions and progress towards goals Attend regular coordinator meetings and work as a team member with coordinator to meet the persons served goals and needs Lunch and Break Patrol Will perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge in the human resource field Ability to teach/instruct and work well with individuals served Considerable knowledge in record keeping and making daily progress notes. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferably with successful work experience in the human service field. Ability to successfully complete required competency testing Must have basic computer skills. Must have ability to work effectively with staff and persons served, and have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner. A valid NC drivers license. Prefer ability to drive a fork lift and fill in as truck driver for a box truck as needed. Physical Requirements The ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis. Accountability The Direct Support Professional of The Workshop of Davidson Inc. will be responsible to the Executive Director, and will perform any duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
