Position:
Exceptional Children Behavior Program Assistant General Job Description:

Provide support to administration and staff with coaching of staff in behavioral strategies, working with students both 1:1 and in group settings providing durable life skills, and explaining and supporting staff with the area of positive behavior management, behavioral supports and FBA/BIP behavior interventions for 029 students. Assist in the implementation, management and assessment of local policies and practices designed to provide a continuum of behavioral services to increase student success with behavioral supports and monitoring and decrease out of school placements for disciplinary reasons.

Qualifications:

Education
High School Diploma, a college degree is preferred
Experience
Experience supporting and coaching students, staff and administration with behavioral needs/paperwork or other job-related experience
Experience with data collection and documentation of working with students on specific strategies
Experience working with students with behavioral disorders
Experience in implementing, and compliance monitoring of behavior intervention strategies, FBAs, BIPs and discipline requirements
Experience with developing and presenting professional development as needed
Special Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both in written form and orally
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and other staff as part of a team
Ability to communicate and work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups
Ability to gather and analyze a variety of data
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate data and records
Ability to meet deadlines and schedules
Maintain knowledge of district policies and regulations regarding Code of Conduct
Maintain confidentiality

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Frequent district-wide travel between schools
Some standing, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, climbing stairs and moving light furniture may be required
Must be able to work with a flexible schedule

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Model behavior management strategies for teachers and staff for successfully addressing challenging behavior
Effectively support administration and staff with managing escalated student behavior and next steps
Facilitate positive behavior intervention support in schools to improve classroom management to reduce out of school placements
Train staff and provide support in the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments and individual behavior plans through consultation with teachers
Provide professional development as directed by Senior Director for schools, administrators, or families
Assist and train staff in data collection strategies, implementing BIPs, monitoring of plans, and IEP behavior compliance
Assist school administration, teachers, teaching assistants, and EC behavioral support staff in identifying student problems, suggesting intervention strategies, implementing recommendations, and providing follow-up
Become a trainer in the district’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI) and ensure compliance with training guidelines
Attend behavioral training workshops and share information with teachers and staff
Maintain documentation of student progress
Compile data for 029 reports, records and other required documentation
Maintain confidentiality of information
Complete any necessary trainings as mandated by the Senior Director of Special Education
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Special Education
