This position is part of the Northern California Mental HealthTraining Program and follows its regional policies and procedures.
It is designed to provide advanced training and additional clinicalsupervision to Associate Marriage & Family Therapists, AssociateClinical Social Workers and Associate Professional ClinicalCounselors (AMFT/ACSW/APCC) who have prior experience working in amental health setting. Position meets the requirements forsupervised training of Associate Marriage & Family Therapists,Associate Clinical Social Workers and Associate ProfessionalClinical Counselors working toward licensure and follows theguidelines as set forth by California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
The Post Masters Fellowship position is based in outpatient Childand Family and/or Adult Psychiatry and/or Chemical Dependencyand/or other teams as available. Primary supervision is provided byLicensed Mental Health Professionals. Position is one year,temporary with benefits. This position ONLY pertains to theNorthern California Mental Health Training Programs.
EssentialResponsibilities:
- Provide psychotherapy to patients andco-facilitate family and/or group therapy. Actively participate inassigned clinical supervision.
- Weekly minimum of two (2) hours ofindividual supervision; two (2) hours of didactic training; and two(2) hours of case conference/group supervision.
- Activelyparticipate in a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours annually ofoutside community partnership projects.
- Attend workshops andregional seminars on a regular basis as part of the training.
Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other stafffunctions. Facilitate community outreach and community referrals asneeded.
- Maintain confidential patient files/records andinformation in a timely manner.
- Comply with regional and localpolicies and procedures.
- Comply with the Code of Ethics and statelaws pertaining to the delivery of mental health services.
- Team-specific duties performed by fellows under the directsupervision of mental health licensed professional, including butnot limited to the following: Adult Team, Child/Family Team,Chemical Dependency, Behavioral Medicine or others.

Adult Team:
Provide assessment and individual and group therapy to adults in abrief therapy model.

Child/Family Team:
Provide individual,family and/or group counseling to children, adolescents, andfamilies
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) : Provide services topatients needing more intensive treatment for stabilization, in astepped-down treatment program for patients recently dischargedfrom inpatient psychiatric unit.

Bilingual Spanish Therapy:
Provide assessment and individual, group therapy to adults in brieftherapy model to patients who request clinical services in Spanish•
Behavioral Medicine:
Provide services to patients whosepresenting problem is related to the treatment of a physicalproblem or psychological issues arising from a medical condition.
Provide services to patients who are experiencing emotional orstress-related problems concurrent to receiving treatment for amedical diagnosis or physical symptom.

Case Management:
Provideindividual, family and group psychotherapy services to patientswith severe and persistent mental illness with goal ofstabilization of symptoms. Facilitate treatment by interacting withpsychiatric hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, crisisresidential facilities, and other intensive programs.

ChronicPain Management:
Provide services to patients who experiencechronic pain, including teaching them pain management skills suchas pacing, medication management, staying active, relaxationtechniques and positive thinking.

Eating Disorders:
Provideservices to adults, children, teens and families who have adiagnosis of an eating disorder.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Successful completionof pre-masters internships in mental health settings.
- Noapplicant who has more than 2000 hours of supervision towardslicensure will be accepted into the Training Program in their firsttraining year by program start date. Education
- Masters Degree inSocial Work, Social Welfare from a clinical track, Clinical orCounseling Psychology or related field from an accredited collegeor university by program start date. License, Certification,Registration
- Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (California)required at hire OR Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker(California) required at hire OR Associate Professional ClinicalCounselor Registration (California) required at hire
AdditionalRequirements:
- Competence in: Mental Status Evaluation; MandatedReporting; Suicide/ Homicide/ Danger Assessment; Ethics andConfidentiality; the DSM (Psychopathology/Abnormal Psychology);Theories and Practices of Psychotherapy; and Personality andPsychological Development; Domestic Violence; and ChemicalDependency.
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual,family and/or group psychotherapies.
- Demonstrated professionalmaturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professionalresponsibilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality of service,teamwork, and participation in a highly interactivemultidisciplinary clinic.
- Demonstrated ability to completemultiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
- Must be able towork in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
PreferredQualifications:
- Experience and/or training in working with Adultand/or Child and Adolescent, Chemical Dependency, IOP or BilingualClinical Therapy populations preferred.
- Experience and/ortraining in establishing psychosocial diagnoses and providingstandard psychotherapeutic services, preferred.
- Experience and/ortraining in Clinical Case Management, preferred.
- Experienceand/or training in group therapy, preferred.
- Acquisition of atheoretical background in cognitive, emotional, and interpersonalfunctioning, abnormal psychology, and in the major schools ofpsychotherapy, preferred.
