Position:

YAI is hiring a Bilingual Behavioral Support Assistant (BSA) who will work directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across their home, work, and daily life settings. This role blends direct support and clinical leadership : under BIS supervision, you’ll help educate teams on Behavior Support Plans, assist with assessments, ensure accurate data collection, and provide feedback and training.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-home services tailored to families’ schedules, including assessment, observation, training, and behavioral support. Conduct behavioral and habilitative assessments using formal tools (questionnaires, rating scales, data) and informal observation. Help develop individualized habilitation plans based on assessed needs. Offer short-term behavioral interventions and caregiver training to address challenging behaviors and improve family routines. Coordinate with external providers (schools, therapists, agencies) to align behavioral supports. Provide direct care as needed, including personal care (ADLs), medical, dietary, recreational, and habilitative support. Coach caregivers and individuals in a variety of skill areas. Oversee and analyze data collection to track progress and adjust interventions. Complete all required documentation (progress reports, summaries, person-centered materials, incident reports). Participate in regular supervision and team meetings, lead discussions on assigned cases, and follow up on recommendations. Travel routinely across NYC to meet case needs.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s in Psychology, Human Services, or related field. Bilingual (Spanish/English highly preferred) At least 1 year of experience with I/DD populations, behavioral challenges, counseling, or assessments. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. Willingness to assist with ADLs and work flexible hours, including evenings. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other systems; able to train others. Assertive leadership, written/verbal communication, and ability to meet physical demands (including interventions, if needed).
