The Psychiric Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for the consultive and specialty care of pients with mental health needs presenting to the Domiciliary, Community Living Center, Urgent Care Center, and/or outpient settings as required. The PA functions as an integral member of the Psychiry Consult-Liaison Team in the Domiciliary/CLC/UCC and/or the BHIP Team in the Outpient Clinic, working in coordinion with the other team members to include psychirists, PMHNP’s, psychologists, nurses, psychotherapists, social workers, addiction therapists, vocional specialists, and other clinic personnel. The PA directly responsible to the Chief of Psychiry or supervising psychirist of his/her assigned duty section for all clinical and administrive duties. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct initial psychiric evaluions, including initial assessment interviews, history and focused physical exams, lab/imaging/consultion orders, aftercare plans, and follow up s. Following the initial evaluion, the PA will provide approprie follow-up care including reassessments of diagnoses and conditions, medicion adjustments, and any further tests or consults indiced. Conduct urgent psychiric evaluions to assist with disposition of pients in the Urgent Care Center, with the support of the supervising psychirist or his/her designee Provide mental health educion/counseling and brief supportive therapy of pients and their families Conduct ongoing follow-up appointments for stable pients, including regular refills of medicions, required lab monitoring and other tests, and documention of progress Perform examinions and screening scales (such as AIMS, MoCA, PHQ-9) and similar non-invasive examinions specific to the ongoing care of psychiric pients Conduct suicide risk assessments and complete documention of assessments, reports of suicidal behavior, and formal safety planning as per VHA guidelines Order approprie laborory tests, imaging studies, EKG’s (electrocardiograms) and similar noninvasive tests Communice test results to pients per Medical Center policy (within 7 days for actionable results, 14 days for routine results) Complete documention on all s, consults, and telephone calls and close encounters within parameters established by the facility (same day when all possible) Participe as requested in preadmission screening and case management/interdisciplinary team discussions and perform trement planning in course of care Participe in clinical pertinence reviews, process improvement projects, risk management activities, and other such duties as assigned Integre the activities of the psychiric consultion team or mental health clinic with other pient care programs in the facility Other reled duties as assigned

Ability to present clinical findings and recommendions to approprie management officials. Ability to clinically facilite the delivery of pient care in collaborion with health professionals, health managers, and other health care personnel. Ability to implement and initie clinical changes to established trement protocols based upon new medical literure research findings to enhance pient delivery care for improved pient outcomes.
