1-1 Aide 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars Cobleskill, NY 12043 Anticipated Fall Openings 1-1 Aide This position will assist a preschool child in their classroom setting, with goals listed on their IEP, with an emphasis on self help skills and safety. This position is 10 months and is per diem (you do not work if the child is absent from school) although opportunities to substitute in other areas for absences may be available. The position includes benefits such as paid personal time, sick time, snow days, holidays, school recesses. This position is guaranteed for the 2025 – 2026 Head Start program year only.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivelent required. Additional skills preferred include the ability to form relationships with children, work as part of a team that includes the family and therapists, ability to follow all policies and procedures including SCCDC’s Behavior Management Policy and Confidentiality Policy, and act in a professional manner. All SCCDC positions require three (3) written Letters of Reference, OCFS Clearance, Physical with Tuberculosis test, and a valid NYS Driver’s License.
Rate of Pay:
$16.50/hr

GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Assist a child, per their IFSP or IEP. Support the safety of the child and the classroom.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Education and School Readiness Work in partnership with the child’s team, including the family, classroom staff, administrators, and therapists, to provide experiences that are inclusive for the child, including environmental and material modifications and supports. Work in partnership with the child’s team to meet their IFSP or IEP goals. Use data collection to provide feedback to the members of the child’s team. Family and Community Engagement Support Family Engagement in all aspects of the Head Start program. Foster the belief in parents that they are their child’s best teachers. Contribute to a welcoming environment for all families through respectful and friendly interactions. Health and Safety Incorporate health practices, to include but not limited to, handwashing, tooth brushing, family style meals and toileting into the daily routine of the classroom. Partner with the classroom team to support the individual health needs of all children and families. Ensure all Health Care and Allergy Plans are strictly adhered to in the classroom. Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment. Implement the Supervision of Children Procedure to ensure that all children are always supervised. Mental Health and Disabilities Services Implement appropriate, trauma informed, classroom management techniques, in accordance with the SCCDC Behavior Management Policy. Implement teaching and behavior support practices associated with the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children. Record Keeping and Reporting Participate in documentation as requested by the program and/or therapists. Training and Professional Development Attend trainings as assigned by MHDSM. Facilities and Learning Environments Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
