Job Summary:
The Licensed Psychiatric Technician, under thedirection of and in collaboration with a Registered Nurse, providesnursing care, milieu management including appropriateadministration of medical treatment (including medications) asprescribed by the physician. Six months experience working in anacute mental health treatment setting within the past four years.
Current Psychiatric Technician license by the state ofCalifornia.
Essential Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with allpatients. Communicate with patient via phone, secure message,video, letter and document appropriately. Administers medication and treatments to patients. Performvitals and follow escalation pathway as needed. Attends, participates in, and facilitates classes/workshops asneeded. Coordinates end of episode of care/After Visit summary underthe direction of the care team consider. Completes appropriate documentation as assigned. Conduct chartreview, identify and assemble relevant information to transmit arefill request. Document physician orders accurately and in a timelymanner. Participates as a team member in all unit activities, reportsobservations, documents observations, and asks appropriatequestions when clarification are necessary. Implements patient treatment plans in coordination with thetreatment team. Keeps the treating clinicians and care team informed of patientbehavior and changes in patient condition. Notifies treatingclinicians and care team in regard to patients who are clinicalmanagement concerns. Acts as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positiveattitude in problem solving. Ensures that supplies and medications necessary for patientcare are ordered and available. Observes, records and reports patients social, medical andpsychiatric presentation. Participates in daily data acquisition processes by collectingand documenting data as clinically indicated. Promotes and assists patients in developing self-helpskills. Perform other related duties as necessary.

BasicQualifications:
Experience Minimum six (6) months experience working in an acute mentalhealth treatment setting within the past four years. Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees havethis experience requirement waived. Education Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program, orotherwise qualified for California licensure as a PsychiatricTechnician. License, Certification, Registration Psychiatric Technician License (California)
Basic Life Support Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the delivery ofmental health services in the State of California. Willingness to develop / enhance competencies in managing themilieu in a PHF. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, shortcorrespondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one andsmall group situations to customers, clients, and other incumbentsof the organization. Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnershipenvironment. Also refer to Position Specifications outlined in theappropriate collective bargaining agreement. Demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and itstreatment. Competency in data collection and documentation of datacollected. Demonstrated knowledge of psychotropic medications.
