Position Summary
Under the supervision of the division director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to providepetent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.

Based on education and experiencemensurate with Salary Schedule D1 IB for 9 months (range: $42,108 to $68,229).Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule. Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IB for 3 months $13,001

Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College. Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.

Student Learning. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
Establishes meaningful learning and student learning oues for courses/programs.
Develops and explains methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning oues.
Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
Returns student assignments and tests in a timely manner.
Maintains accurate records of student progress and submits final grade rosters each semester according to established deadlines.
Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
Maintain action plans based on data to support constant and never-ending improvement in the instructional process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Support of College Policies and Procedures. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Teaches classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment as needed.
Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and to students for advisement and consultation.
Serves as faculty advisor within the current College advisement system.
Prepares, distributes, and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.
Maintains confidentiality of student information.
Substitutes for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.
Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Serves on college, divisional, and programmittees as assigned.
Participates in meeting and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.
Responds in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
Supports both part-time and full-time colleagues.
Contributes to program and division curriculum development processes.
Participates in graduation ceremonies.
Provides attendance data as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Contribution to Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
Maintains familiarity with College goals, mission and long-range plans.
Contributes to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.

Performs professional responsibilities in accordance with pertinent goals, missions, and plans of the College, division, and program.
Participates in the marketing, recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Professional Development. Continue aspetent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professionalpetencies.
Updates knowledge and skills in subject matter field and instructional abilities.
Remains current in teaching discipline by one or more of the following methods:
a. attending workshops, continuing education programs, practicums, and academic courses;
b. engaging in individual self-study;
c. actively participating in professionalanizations.
Sets professional goals for each rating period.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or nursing from an accredited institution is required.
As applicable for each professional field, unencumbered licensure to practice in the State of Alabama for the discipline in which prepared is required.
Three years’ experience in mental health-related services is required. Postsecondary teaching experience, including the use of a learning management systems (Blackboard or Canvas) is preferred.
Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into curricula, including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management (Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard/Canvas) is preferred.
Experience inspiring and facilitating learning with diverse student populations is preferred.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. Thismittee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration ofpetency, to determine which applicants are to be rmended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisorymittee will select the applicants to be interviewed. Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.
