Position Purpose:
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to patients in our inpatient eating disorder clinic. The MHT will work closely with the clinical team, including doctors, PA/APRNs, nurses, therapists, and dietitians, to deliver comprehensive care. A passion for mental health and a commitment to helping individuals on their recovery journey is a fundamental expectation in this role.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:

Education:
High School Diploma/GED or higher preferred. 2.
Experience:
1+ year(s) experience in a similar position and/or similar function. 3.
Certification/Licensure:
Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) – clear and active preferred. Valid driver license required. Prior to hirer or must acquire within 6 months of hire and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid or BLS Certification. 4. Training and Knowledge Required at
Time of Hire:
Knowledge and strong computer skills including, but not limited to, typing, Microsoft Office Suite, EMRs, etc. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Position Competencies:
1. Conduct room/bag search as scheduled and/or requested by management. 2. Perform CLIA Waived and other testing such as: Pregnancy, UA-Drug Screen, Breathalyzer, etc. 3. Perform, record, and understand/report abnormal/high readings immediately vitals such as: blood pressure, temperature, blood ox, pulse, etc. 4. Know and maintain professional communication skills: verbal, written, and non-verbal communication 5. Understand and maintains the highest level of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) standards
Position Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
1.
Specific:
Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene, ensuring their comfort and dignity. Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes to the nursing or clinical staff. Assist with meal support and supervision, helping patients follow their prescribed meal plans. Provide support during therapeutic activities and group sessions, encouraging patient participation and engagement. Take and record vital signs, weight, and other relevant health metrics as directed by the nursing staff. Assist in the administration of medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Help maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment in the clinic, adhering to infection control protocols. Observe and document patient behavior, mood, and compliance with treatment plans. Conduct regular checks on patients, particularly those on enhanced supervision, to ensure their safety. Communicate effectively with the clinical team about patient progress, challenges, and any incidents. Provide de-escalation support during moments of patient distress or crisis, following clinic protocols. Assist in emergency situations, including participating in code situations and providing basic first aid if necessary. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. Attend and contribute to team meetings, providing input on patient care and progress. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient’s medical records, including observations, interventions, and patient responses. Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for treatment team meetings and case reviews.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings, training, briefings, etc.
- Regularly walk the property to ensure client safety and maintaining their schedule of activities/services, redirecting as necessary.
- Reinforce rules and policies of the agency/residence according to the facility/residence client handbooks.
