JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION

Works collaboratively with and under the direct supervision of a clinician to participate in the delivery of client care for the improvement of quality of life for clients and families. Performs routine and assigned tasks in facility and provides assistance to treatment team with care activities within the scope of training and experience. Maintains safe and therapeutic environment and offers and assists in control of residents who exhibit unacceptable behavior. Job is performed appropriately for the age and clinical population served, as defined in the department’s scope of service.

JOB FUNCTIONS 1.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Performs routine and assigned tasks within facility completely and within time frames, as directed. Delivers care that meets or exceeds department standards when assisting with resident care tasks and activities, within the scope of training and experience. 2. Provides direct client care and assists clinical team with client duties.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Reports changes in the resident’s condition, in a timely and accurate manner. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with resident and family members, from admission through discharge, demonstrating an awareness of resident and family concerns and apprehensions, displaying empathy and genuine concern, and using verbal and non-verbal therapeutic techniques during interaction. Takes steps to de-escalate distressed residents, observe and document resident behavior. Co-facilitates groups, as assigned, under the direction of clinicians and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team conference providing input for the residents’ treatment plan per established departmental procedures. Assists residents to de-escalate behavior during the development of a crisis, using non-violent crisis intervention techniques and provides assistance to the treatment team during the alert process per established departmental guidelines. Provides both physical and emotional care daily to residents in a manner that considers safety, residents’ rights, comfort and the therapeutic environment, and encourages independent behavior when appropriate per established departmental procedures. Protects the rights of the resident by maintaining policy and procedure beginning at the time of admission and throughout the residents stay. Ensures resident safety by adhering to all Safety Policy guidelines, 100% of the time. Assists in resident transportation assignments. Actively participates in maintaining the cleanliness of the resident care environment. Performs effectively in emergency response situation in accordance with BRRH Code Policy. Follows

BRGMC/BRRH

policies and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of equipment. Demonstrates flexibility with staffing, scheduling, and assignment changes as needed. 3. Maintains safe and therapeutic environment/milieu through resident monitoring as designated by clinicians.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Continually monitors compliance with facility rules, conducts environmental safety checks/security rounds. Provides assistance with security and effectively applies supportive behavior when assisting in the control of residents who exhibit unacceptable behavior. Recognizes the impact of negative behavior group contagion and demonstrates the ability to employ de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed. Assists with therapeutic and recreational activities. Oversee the activities of the facility when there is no professional staff on duty. 4. Enters documentation on client records.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Documents residents’ response to group, individual therapy and family sessions, according to established guidelines when applicable. Documents significant occurrences, observed behavior and close observation findings on assigned client and as requested by the clinician with 100% accuracy and within defined timelines. 5. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 3

months in a substance abuse setting desired, and 2 years working experience preferred. Education in mental health related field may be substituted for experience.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or GED required.

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS 21

years of age. Training in crisis prevention and CPR desired, if not will receive within 90 days of hire. Possess a class D license

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: paper and electronic medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, residents demographics, lab and radiology results, surgery/appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, financial information, resident related complaints, information related to resident location, and/or residents religious beliefs.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: incident reporting and linens, environmental rounds to ensure safety, identification of residents, transporting of residents, and transporting medications. Must be 21 or older Must possess a high school diploma Must possess a class D license
