BEHAVIORAL HEALTH GROUP TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY
To performthis job successfully, the Behavioral Health Group Technician mustbe able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and providedroutine care for behaviorally impaired and emotionally disturbedpatients under the direction of licensed behavioral health staffand provide purposeful, goal-oriented activities that teach andfacilitate skills in assertiveness, independent living,interpersonal and social skills, and promoting individualizedinterest and pursuits. This position requires creativity andadaptability while leading groups of offenders.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTHGROUP TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads, instructs andencourages inmate patients in a program of individual and groupactivities of a physical, social, and cultural nature.
Work with thebehavioral health team to plan treatment goals for specificpatients.
Assist in coordinating recreation therapy with othertherapeutic programs.
Observe patients’ reactions andprogress.
Record clinical notes to be included in medical files andprepare reports.
Regular monitoring of inmates’ programinvolvement.
Notify Behavioral Health/Clinical Director in a timelymanner of inmate problems requiring attention.
Attends training andmeetings as required.
Other duties, as assigned.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTHGROUP TECHNICIAN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of experiencein Therapeutic Recreation or related field providing activitiesprogramming for persons who have a serious mentalillness.
Experience working in a correctional mental health settingpreferred.
Must be able to pass a background investigation andobtain agency security clearance where applicable.
