Job Summary:
Supports the coordination and implementation of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Sustainability programs for CooperVision West Henrietta. Supports EHS Department to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal EHS regulations and CVI best practices.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must also learn to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry is desired. Should be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Competent in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in Windows environment. •
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged sitting in front of computer, hand/finger coordination. Frequent reaching with hands and arms. Frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Generally works in a semi-closed environment with moderate level of noise and controllable changes of temperature. Occasional noisy and dusty environment in parts of warehouse/packaging floor.
- Needs to stand, walk, bend the body, and/or may be seated for a long period of time.
- Uses hands to feel, finger or handle and reach.
- Applies communication skills (advanced reading, writing, and technical skills) and mathematical concepts to perform work and coordinate with others.
- Occasionally works on alternate shifts or off hours to accommodate training or review of incidents with second and third shift employees.
Experience:
- Experience working in a warehouse or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated indirect leadership experience or ability to influence others.
- Ability to touch, type and take minutes.
- EHS or Learning & Development experience (safety teams, inspections, hazard hunter training) preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- Two-year degree preferred, but not necessary For U.
S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $24.80 and may include cost of living adjustments. Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Documents and maintains records of safety inspections, reviews, and audits performed by Safety Teams and Managers. Identifies corrective action items and tracks to completion via electronic reporting methods.
- Provides project management support to multiple shift EHS Teams by tracking projects, recruiting team members, preparing meeting topics for presentation, and documenting meeting minutes.
- Provides support for incident and accident investigation, accurate recording of details, and the implementation of corrective actions for work-related injuries and incidents. Coordinates the Near Miss and hazardous conditions reporting.
- Collects monthly and quarterly data from waste and recycling streams, EHS key performance indicators (KPIs), and Duffy Rath System Monthly Performance. Import data into Workiva, EcoOnline, and Global KPI files.
- Monitors chemical inventories for the site and maintains compliance of current inventory of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Manages electronic SDS management system (Chemwatch) and assists in the training all employees on its use.
- Performs Job Hazard Analyses and Ergonomic Risk Factor/PPE Hazard Assessments for the site. Reviews and recommends improvements and PPE.
- Provides EHS orientation/onboarding training of new hires.
- Supports the EHS Department in the development and updating of training materials for monthly safety training sessions and safety awareness activities. Maintains training records to ensure compliance.
- Conducts routine inspections of equipment including AEDs, Eyewash Stations, and First Aid Rooms.
- Supports ongoing Sustainability, ESG, and when applicable, Wellness projects. Job Description
- Supports handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
- Maintains all EHS plans, training documents, policies, and SOPs in our electronic Quality Management System (Agile).
- Facilitates and tracks the contractor safety program.
- As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to Include mandatory overtime.
