$ 18.04-26.71 USD UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven casual Crisis Technician I to our Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) team! Safe Harbor’s Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) is an 8-bed facility designed to provide an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. Our multidisciplinary team—comprising registered nurses, CRNPs/PAs, master’s level therapists, technicians, and a discharge specialist—works collaboratively to offer comprehensive services such as medication management, therapeutic support (both group and individual), and essential referrals for ongoing care. As our ideal candidate, you will possess a high school diploma and bring a strong desire to learn. While prior experience in behavioral health or crisis- related settings is a plus, it is not required. We will provide comprehensive training upon hire to ensure your success in this role! This casual position will work a schedule of primarily weekends, with shift flexibility to accommodate first, second and third shift schedules. Some holidays as needed, and occasional weekdays to cover for full-time staff when needed. The dress code is business casual and free on-site parking, ensuring a comfortable and convenient work environment. Responsibilities:
Support daily living needs, hygiene, and crisis intervention.
Provide counseling using recovery-focused, strength-based methods.
Collaborate on treatment planning with interdisciplinary teams. Maintain safety and therapeutic environment. Complete documentation and participate in staff meetings.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
B.S. degree preferred.
Crisis experience preferred.
Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.
Flexible schedule; rotating shifts.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 or Act 126 – must be obtained within 90 days. ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer. CPR within 30 days of hire or transfer Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
