Required Overview Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Neurodiagnostic Lab compliments Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s Neuroscience division. Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is a Level IV Epilepsy Center, utilizing state of the art video monitoring equipment with a dedicated staff of Neurologists and Neurodiagnostic technologists. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Responsible for all aspects of academic-level Neurodiagnostics staff and student education and training programs for both BJH and SLCH. Serves as the subject matter expert for all academic-only, and routine, testing and procedural functions, systems integration of hardware, software and materials expert for capital technology acquisition and integration.
Academic only procedures include:
long term video EEG set up & monitoring, electrocorticography, cortical stimulation mapping, routine and/or intra-operative somatosensory evoked potentials, and intra-operative EEG monitoring with/without robotics/navigation. Ensures department meets standards of accreditation (i.e., ABRET Lab Accreditations, National Association of Epilepsy Centers). Responsibilities Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates ongoing educational and professional development activities and programs (BJC HSO’s & Community Partners) for neurodiagnostic technical staff including, but not limited to, onsite EEG certification training program. Responsible for verification of staff competency, quality, and continuing education for all academic and non-academic neurodiagnostic inpatient, outpatient, and surgical procedures as a subject matter expert in areas of EEG Neurodiagnostics. Clinical site coordinator for non-BJC contracted certificate and/or associate degree awarding Neurodiagnostic Technology training programs. Responsible for student educational content and clinical evaluations as required by the contracted training programs. Collaborates with leadership to assess the ongoing educational needs of neurodiagnostic technical staff and develops appropriate education plans to ensure sufficient and competent departmental coverage of all aspects of routine and advanced academic-only EEG procedures. liaison for EEG testing education and training in other clinical service areas (i.e., nursing units, radiology, ORs, Resident Physicians, etc.) Performs and instructs all aspects of routine and academic-only EEG testing procedures at a proficiency level at or above Neuodiagnostic Technologist III.
