Job Summary:
Provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment. Uses devices like gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners to capture images of the inside of the body after the radioactive material has been absorbed. Explains procedures to patients to reduce their anxiety and obtain patient cooperation. Monitors patients during the procedure to ensure they are comfortable and to check for any adverse reactions. Must also follow strict protocols to minimize radiation exposure. Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic procedures per study requirements. Responsible for acquiring, processing, and photographing optimum exams for diagnostic interpretation. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs. Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence as outlined in study protocol. Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation as required per study. Enters procedures in research systems such as Clinical Conductor. Prepares and maintains records and reports including the receipt, dispensing and disposal of radioactive materials. Operates all diagnostic equipment, including Scintillation Cameras, PET Scanners, Uptake Probes, Well Counters, Dose Calibrators and GM Meters. Supports and ensures strictest adherence to best practices, FDA Code of Federal Regulations, ICH (International Conference on Harmonization), GCP (Good Clinical Practices), CenExel standard operating procedures, site working Practices, protocol, and company guidelines and policies Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Education/Experience/Skills:
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Must be able to insert and IV and perform phlebotomy. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience. Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Working Conditions Indoor, Clinic environment. Essential physical requirements include sitting, typing, standing, and walking. Lightly active position, occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
